We currently offer a large variety of programs for our students, and there are options for students in kindergarten all the way up through to adults students, dependent upon the program.

After school
We offer the convenience of an After School program which assists students with homework assignments. MPM Learning Center students will be in a quiet classroom setting to do their homework and get personal assistance. We provide worksheets to improve learning skills once their homework is complete. In addition, our staffs will keep you informed about your child's progress. The class ratio is 5-6 students per tutor.

Facts:
  • Experts agree that school-age children who are unsupervised during after -school hours are more likely to receive poor grades and drop out of school than those who are involved in supervised, constructive activities.
  • Statistics show that most juvenile crime takes place between the hours of 2:00 and 8:00 pm, and that children are at much greater risks of being the victims of crime during these times.
One-on-One Tutoring (All Subjects)
We know that it is important for your child to perform well academically. We also understand that no two children are alike. There may be many reasons that a child many be struggling with subjects such as math, reading, English or science. Our assessments also help pinpoint a student's strengths and weaknesses. Our one-on-one tutoring staff will be there to correct mistakes before they become habits.

Facts:
  • Private tutoring can help ensure that elementary school students have a firm grasp on academic basics. School systems may be introducing more complex ideas before the basics have been mastered as a result of mandatory end-of-year standardized testing (MacDonald, 2003).
  • Private tutoring can help students prepare for and maximize scores on standardized college admissions tests, such as the SAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, TOFEL, and others (Matson 2003)
Group Tutoring
Year round school has been in the public school system for many years. We offer educational activities to keep students engaged in academic work and prepare them for when they return to school. Parents can maintain their usual work hours while keeping their kids engaged in learning at our center.

JELIC (one-on-one tutoring)
Stages of brain development in the left and right hemispheres begin when children are between the ages of 3-5 years old. It is an advantageous time for children to cultivate both hemispheres as they learn about the world. The JELIC (J-Judgment Quotient, E-Emotion Quotient, L-Logic Quotient, I-Intelligence Quotient, and C-Creativity Quotient) has developed a complete curriculum based solely on hands-on experiences with many kinds of manipulation. This helps to enhance a child's capabilities for procedural and creative thinking. These exercises help balance the development of both hemispheres of the pre-school to kindergarten age brain.

MPM Math
MPM stands for Multi-Process-Model. MPM is a self-learning math system with personalized materials uniquely arranged for each student according to his/her individual needs. MPM math helps children learn logic, reasoning and computation.

The main goals of studying MPM are:
  • To improve overall math skills by balancing the growth of concept and computation abilities.
  • To promote problem-solving skills through the development of independent, divergent, and creative thinking.
  • To encourage an active, self-learning attitude.

Piano/Voice/Guitar
Learning music is a wonderful way for students to develop their talents and at the same time have fun. Our one-on-one private sessions teach the fundamentals of music, music theory, musicianship, and techniques. Piano students will be using the Alfred's Piano Library books, practice musical pieces, and have music theory assignments weekly. They will also have the wonderful opportunity to perform their skills in piano/voice recitals throughout the year.

Facts:
  • In 2001, students participating in musical arts scored higher on their SATs than students without musical arts.
  • SAT scores for students in music performance classes were 57 points higher on the verbal portion and 41 points higher on the math portion.
  • SAT scores for students in music appreciation classes were 63 points higher on the verbal portion and 44 points higher on the math portion.

Spanish/Chinese/Vietnamese/Sign Language
Learning a new or second language is a great benefit at any age. It stimulates our minds and helps us communicate in the diverse world that we live in. MPM is fortunate to have instructors teach your child their native language. This is valuable as your child will learn fluency as well as the culture of that language. We offer one-on-one and group lessons for children of all ages.

Computer Class (one-on-one tutoring)
Let us help you improve you or your child's computer skills and integrate technology into your day to day lives at work, school and home.

Topics include:
  • Finding your way around the computer
  • Using the Internet
  • Checking e-mail
  • Using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others
  • Typing

Drop- in Group Tutoring
Our drop-in group tutoring allows you to drop your child off anytime. Take advantage of having your child complete his/her homework without worry. If your child completes or does not have any homework, MPM staff will provide additional academic work such as reading, writing, math and/or other school subjects based on your child's proficiency level.

Personality Assessment Tests
Analyze, evaluate, identify training gaps, assess options and assist in solutions. These tests are designed to assist students in the decision-making process as it relates to maximizing potential in career, education, and personal development. Examples of assessment tests that we currently offer are True Colors, COPS, Myers Briggs, and others.

Academic Assessment Test
Are you interested in knowing what your child's proficiency level is in English and math? MPM Learning Center provides English and math aptitude assessments. The results of these assessments will display what your child's strengths and weaknesses are. Use this knowledge to help your child improve in his/her weak areas.

PSAT/SAT/ACT Preparation
We offer PSAT/SAT/ACT preparation to assist students in obtaining higher scores. The SAT/ACT is part of the college admission process. Test scores play an important role in determining whether a child will be accepted in a college of his/her choice. Higher SAT/ACT scores open up more opportunities for your child.

CAHSEE
The California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) was developed to ensure that high school graduates can demonstrate grade level competency in reading, writing and mathematics. These skills are essential after students move on into college and into the career world. If your child has difficulties passing any sections of the CAHSEE, our staffs are adept in helping your child. Let's watch our children earn their high school diploma with pride!

Proctoring Exams
For your convenience, MPM Learning Center hosts BYU Independent Study exams. We also proctor middle school, high school, and college exams. Our certified teachers can be your test proctors. They are trained and qualified to supervise you while you are taking your exam.

One-on-One Career Counseling
College is an option for students to become trained and knowledgeable about the future career of their interest. However, it can also be overwhelming at times when college students are indecisive or don't know what major(s) they should graduate with. Career counseling will assist students in developing a plan to obtain relevant training, education, and skills that will help them achieve their career goals.

Study Skills
Design a personal time management plan for effective use of the student's most valuable resource for career and life success. Topics to be covered include memory techniques, time management, test taking strategies, learning styles, communication skills, note taking, etc.

Job Search Techniques
The first 10-12 seconds at an interview makes a lasting impression. Being prepared will increase your chances of getting the job that everyone else is applying for. MPM Learning Center offers job search techniques that include: master application, resume preparation, interviewing, references, cover letter, recommendation letter, thank you note and dressing for success.
